They say they cannot hold him much longer in jail and he has to do it or not. 3 broken norms
Three people that broke some norms are Jem, Scout and Mrs. Dubose broke Implicit rules. Jem broke the rule because he breaks Mrs.Dubose flowers with Scout's baton because she always would yell at them to get off her property. Also, she called Atticus an n-lover. Mrs.Dubose broke a norm because she called Atticus an n-lover because he was doing the right thing and respected the black people. Scout broke a norm because she would beat up people and that is not what girls would do often. She does not want to be a lady apparantly.
Atticus's norm
Atticus follows the personal norm because he was willing to defend Tom Robinson's case. Everyone thought that was unright because Tom is black and they should not get a lawyer. But, Atticus Knows what is right and agrees to defend him. This tells me that Atticus doesn't care what people say, he cares what is right and proves everyone else he is a nice guy. And because he is doing what is right Cal, Tom, and the whole First Purchase appreciates and respects him.
pg.133-134
Atticus told Jem and Scoutt live up the finch family name. He said Aunt Alexandra is concerned and wants them to be A gentleman and a lady. Jem and Scout are astonished and later they ae even more astonished when Atticus yells a Scout for combing her hair and making noise. When scout says it takes a woman to do that kind of work she meant that she is a girl and she doesnt have to do it only woman do it. She does not count herself as a woman yet. But Aunt Alexandra thinks its time for her to learn the way a woman works.
